Chrome plugin

News-Clipper

It's a smart Chrome extension designed to cleanly extract articles from various news websites like The Washington Post, The New York Times, le Figaro, and others.

The part we spent the most time refining is the handling of visuals. Instead of grabbing the first random image or icon it finds on a page, the extension is built to recognize the important assets and extract them cleanly.

  • Find the right publication logo, even when it is an SVG or buried inside a custom site layout with special-case overrides.
  • Extract the cleanest main article image instead of accidentally picking social-media previews or promo graphics with burned-in headline text.

In practice, it means that when an article gets saved or parsed, the result looks clean: the correct source branding, a proper lead image, and none of the extra junk layered in by the publisher's front-end.

There is also a longer build log in the blog.

Unzip it and load the folder in Chrome via chrome://extensions with Developer mode enabled.
